A craftsman pulled a reed from the reed bed, cut holes in it, and called it a human being. Since then, it’s been wailing a tender agony of parting, never mentioning the skill that gave it life as a flute.

Clinical Supervision

I graduated as a Supervisor at CCPE (Transpersonal and Integrative) at the beginning of the century! In the year 2000.

Rather than shoehorn client’s issues into one theoretical model of psychotherapy, I advocate a more client-centred approach, working integratively to tailor the therapy to the client’s needs.

I am supportive of my supervisees, trying always to meet their expectations and to increase their ‘toolkit’ of interventions and techniques. As Abraham Maslow said “If you only have a hammer, you will treat everything as a nail“.

Attuning your heart to the client who sits with you requires a degree of risk on the part of the therapist.
There’s an art to recognising what ails your client and what might help most at a particular point in time.
The ability to hold an optimistic, playful and curious stance can help when working with clients, and I hope that – as a supervisor ~ I model these qualities.
To assist our clients in the process of individuation, we need every trick in the book.

If, as a supervisor, I had a coat-of-arms, it would include the following poem:

Come to the edge” he said
We can’t. We’re afraid.”
Come to the edge.”
We can’t. We will fall!
Come to the edge.”
And they came.
And he pushed them.
And they flew.
Guillaume Apollinaire
